The Agronomy Course aims to train Agronomic Engineers with a solid base and a balance between teaching and learning and practice, adapting the training of the Agronomist to the needs of the current reality, allowing these professionals a generalist formation and a comprehensive vision for the performance of all Segments of the profession, being able to generate, adapt and validate technologies that contribute to the improvement and improvement of activities related to the national and mainly regional agriculture, with emphasis on areas that promote a better knowledge of the regional needs, besides a solid formation Humanistic, economic, cultural and critical-value of the activities pertinent to their professional field, guiding the community and contributing to the improvement of the quality of life of the man with the rational use of the resources available from the point of view of the sustainability of the relationship of man with nature .

Job Market

The Agronomic Engineer, graduated from the Agronomy course at Campus do Araguaia / UFMT, will have, at the end of the course, skills to propose technical solutions for agriculture and livestock, compatible with socioeconomic reality and sustainability. Thus, it is expected that this professional is able to perform the following competencies:

  • Plan and direct work related to rural engineering, regarding agricultural problems, covering agricultural machinery and implements, irrigation and drainage, topography and geoprocessing, rural buildings and environment, drying and storage of grains;
  • Elaboration of expert reports and assessments of engineering in the rural area, construct rural works;
  • To elaborate, advise and execute projects aimed at the implementation of new farming methods and practices with the purpose of rational and economical exploration of plants producing food, fiber, oils and ornamental plants;
  • Plan and develop activities related to renewable natural resources and ecology;
  • To carry out teaching, research and extension activities in professional technical education, higher education, research, analysis, experimentation, testing and technical dissemination and extension.
